Charity Casino Night in Colchester

Vegas comes to Vermont!

The Colchester-Milton Rotary Club is hosting a charity casino night and Texas Hold’em Tournament on Friday, August 15, 2008, from 7-11pm at the Hampton Inn off Exit 16 in Colchester. There is a $100 entry fee for the Texas Hold’em game, with rebuys in the first hour only. The tournament offers cash prizes. Registration for the poker tournament is 6pm, and the tournament starts at 7pm. There are 100 seats available. Contact Suzanne Brown 802-985-3596 if you would like to register early.

For those of us who don’t play poker, there will be eight blackjack tables, a craps table, one roulette wheel and one wheel of fortune. Minimum bets for all games except Texas Hold’em are $1.00 and maximum bets are $10.00. (Try finding a table in Vegas where you can still bet $1 a hand–or where the proceeds go to charity!) There will be a cash bar and no dress code. Casino entry fee is $5.

All monies generated from this event will be used for local, national and international charities and services.

This is a great opportunity for Vermonters to get a taste of Vegas in our own backyard. We’re one of those holdout states that doesn’t have any casinos, so whenever we want to do some gaming, we have to drive up to the Montreal Casino, over to upstate New York to the Mohawk casino, or down to Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. And with the price of gas being what it is, that’s no fun these days. So here ya go, folks. Your chance to feed your gambling jones and help charity all without spending a fortune in gas or airfare. Cheers!
