Welcome back! You seem to like this blog. Why not share your favorite articles with your friends on Facebook and/or give it a Stumble? Thanks!
This coming weekend marks the 23rd Annual Green Mountain Chew Chew Festival at Waterfront Park in Burlington. I’m flexing my stomach and jaw muscles all week in preparation. The full menu and schedule are up on their website, do be sure to check it out if you are in town. Make sure you save some tokens for the lemonade at the Dismas House booth, it’s the BEST!
My strategy is always to first try things I’ve never tried before, then to go back to some of my old favorites. There aren’t very many exotic entries this year, which is a little disappointing. I remember, in years past, sampling such goodies as deep fried alligator and rattlesnake. One year, some friends and I challenged each other to eat certain things, and they all got progressively spicier and hotter to the point where we were afraid even the ice cream would be jalapeno flavored! Anyway, I’m willing to take one for the team, so I’ll try out as many unusual food offerings as I can and report back here next week. I hope I see some other solos there–don’t be shy about talking to any redheaded strangers you meet; one of them might be me.
