I live in Vermont, where winters last about 6 months, so I’m used to experiencing lots of cold and snow every year.  In fact,  my top criteria for vacation destinations these days is “somewhere warm and sunny with no snow”.  So I’ve been flabbergasted over the past week that 2 cities I would be likely to travel to during winter to get away from the snow and cold have actually gotten some snow of their own:   Last week, it was New Orleans, where I’ll be in a week, and yesterday, it was my favorite vacation destination, Las Vegas.

I’m happy for the residents of these cities, since for them,  getting snow is a rare treat to be cherished (especially so close to Christmas), but imagine being a tourist who purposely went there to get away from the snow!  You’ve saved your money and your vacation days, only to land in…more of the same.  Big bummer.  Has that ever happened to you?  I’ve been pretty lucky so far in that regard.  I guess whether or not you still have fun depends on your ability to roll with the punches and maintain a good attitude about it all.

I wonder where it will snow next?  Orlando?
