I think it would make for a wonderful trip, much more pleasant than a plane ride in a cramped seat!

Yeah I thought that was pretty clever of them when I was on a recent cruise of NCL's too, it showed what restaurants had been booked and which ones were still available. All in all I'm still impressed how you rarely wait for anything on a cruise ship holding thousands of people!

I too really like the idea of freestyle dining! I've been on four cruises with four different cruise lines, and all had the dining at a set time. I was with a big group for several of the cruises, so in a way it was nice to all have a set dining time, to make sure we got to all eat together. But sometimes it was such a drag--and I can imagine it being a huge pain when doing it solo! It's really cool that NCL lets you do your own thing. Definitely sounds more appealing for solo traveling.

Someone else on my previous post was saying the same thing! I think it's a terrific idea to use the transatlantic crossing for transportation. Yes, there were some activities, even during the 2 day cruise, but I didn't partake (I just didn't have time). I'll be doing a future post on "things to do" aboard the Epic. Yes, that is incredibly rude. There are so many options aboard Epic, you almost never have to put yourself in that kind of situation unless for some reason, you really want to eat at a certain restaurant (like Cirque in the Spiegel Tent or Teppenyaki).

True enough, Jim, the logistics must be crazy. Actually, one thing I neglected to mention is a very cool, high-tech feature the ship has: At locations around the ship (I cannot recall precisely where I saw them), there are LED (or LCD? I never get that right) images of the ship, with a listing of the restaurants, showing which ones are fully booked and which have available seating. So you don't have to walk all over the ship, from one restaurant to another, looking for one where you can get in. I thought that was so cool.

The freestyle dining concept is great and it's even more amazing that they can pull it off on a ship the size of the Epic. Great overview of the dining options, I'm always amazed at how much (amount and variety) food these things carry.

thanks Gray, this gives me a good overview. The epic will go tranatlantic next spring. if the prices stay reasonable, i can use this for transportation back to Italy.

this was only a 2 day event, but did they share any of the activities they will have for long trips? lectures, classes, etc.

thanks again. i have never tried to sit with 6 strangers at a table after a group got up and moved when my dad an I sat with them. that has remained FIXED in my mind for years. so rude. now i am creative in times that i eat or where.....
