I saw an article today at MSNBC (originally from ShermansTravel) on solo travel packages which set my little solo traveler heart aflutter. It’s so rare that hotels market to solo travelers. I suddenly feel special, how about you? I especially like the It’s Time to Fly Solo Package at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego, which includes 2 nights hotel stay, admission to Balboa Park (including the San Diego Zoo), a $100 credit for the Rock Spa, and a $30 breakfast credit (I hope that’s for the 2 days)–all for $528 (airfare not included). I haven’t stayed there, so I don’t know if the price is worth it, but I’m just happy they’re thinking about those of us who travel solo. Hard Rock: You ROCK.
Unlike, for instance….
The MGM Mirage corporation, which just put out a press release on its Vegas Summer Escape Package (for New York-New York and Monte Carlo hotels), which could be a pretty good deal. . .except for the fact that all but one of the perks it’s offering to “sweeten the pot” are 2-for-1 discounts. When asked if those discounts could be used as a 50% off discount by a solo traveler, the answer was “unfortunately, no”.
That is just cold, MGM Mirage.
