Every day in Vegas is a party, so you can just imagine what St. Patrick’s Day is like! If you’re planning to be in Vegas for St. Patrick’s Day, you’ve got plenty of celebrations to choose from.
If you’re traveling on the cheap, Fremont Street is sure to be a blast, with live outdoor music and a block party-like atmosphere. Fitzgerald’s has a festival they like to call “Shamrock and Roll 2009″. It includes a “leprechaun lookalike” contest, a green jello eating contest, and an Irish “jig off.” They also have some prizes they’re giving away to Club Fitz members, including $100 awarded randomly every half hour between noon and five pm on Sunday, March 15. You’ll also get 3 x cashback points on Tuesday. Be sure to sign up for the club card, it’s easy to do. The band Whiskey Galore will be playing on the 3rd Street Stage Downtown on Monday and Tuesday from 8-11pm.
There’s an all-day block party at O’Sheas at Center Strip starting at noon on March 17. This will include DJs and live bands, beer pong tables, and contests. Redhead ladies drink green beer for FREE all day! (If only I were going to be in Vegas!)
New York-New York on the South Strip is holding their annual Celtic festival. They kick off the 3-day party on Saturday, March 14. You can hear bands Ri Ra, the Celtic Rockers, Killians Angels, and the U2 cover band Rattle and Hum, among others, and sample some traditional Irish food and drink (like Guinnes, Harp, and Smithwicks) at Nine Fine Irishmen. The best bargain for this is to purchase the 3-day pass to the festivities; a 3-day pass will cost you $25 and will include admission plus 3 complimentary draft beers. The St. Patrick’s Day only passes are $20 and don’t come with free beers. Purchase your passes at the Zumanity Box Office.
At the Hard Rock’s The Joint, the Young Dubliners will be playing with the Fenians, Brother and Wild Celts on Monday, March 16. Tickets are $22 and up.
