It’s very rare that I publish photo-only posts, but I think Waikiki is such a beautiful subject that it warrants an exception, don’t you? Perhaps these photos of my trip to Hawaii will inspire you to do a little travel dreaming–or planning–of your own.

Hilton Hawaiian Village

The grounds of the Hilton Hawaiian Village are lovely. Very well-landscaped.

Surfer and sailboat

This scene totally grabbed me. I knew I was in Hawaii now.

3 wheeler

I’ve never seen a 3-wheeler like this before.

beach volleyball

One way to make new friends.

Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach

The beach disappears for a stretch, so this foot bridge comes in handy.

Waikiki Beach

The beach gets a little crowded in places.

Rentals and lessons

If you’re eager to dive in, you can get rentals and lessons on the beach.

Looove the shots of Waikiki. But I’m a biased reader. ha ha… Next time I think you should take a surfing lesson! =)

I’m nabbing your tour and doing one on Dharamsala, but my photos are nowhere near as nice as yours!

Part of me would love that, Christine. But would you believe I’ve never gone swimming in the ocean? I’ll walk into it a ways, but swimming….gulp. I grew up swimming in lakes and pools, so I don’t really know how to swim when there are strong currents. So first I’d need a lesson in how to handle the pull of the surf.

Looks lovely there and I’m glad you posted this! I like photo essays because they often show us things that words can’t quite express. Also, every time I see a post on Hawaii, I like it. Makes me want to go there!! 🙂

Thanks, Lisa! Hawaii is so beautiful, no pictures I have can truly do it justice. And if a picture paints a thousand words, then this would have been a very long blog post if I’d actually written it out. 😉

I envy your trip to Waikiki! I love the white sand beach and the ride on the three wheeler. By the way Gray, I like your stunning and clear pictures!

Thanks much!

Did you go to Hilo Hatties? It’s a great store. I bought a lot of souveniers there (kona coffee, chocolate covered macadamian nuts). I even found a Hawaiian shirt on clearance to wear to the luau.

I am so glad I decided to make the solo trip to Hawaii. If I waited for someone to go with me, I’d still be waiting.

Exactly, JoAnn! I felt the same way. No, I didn’t make it to Hilo Hatties. So…darn, I guess I’ll have to go back. 🙂

Oh, I’m so glad you liked them, Margie. I highly recommend a trip to Hawaii. Everyone should see it at some point in their lives.
